Xiangqu Senba Vegan Retreat, Shangri-La, Yunnan — a Tibetan courtyard inside Dukezong

2026.09.27 · The TeaVegVoyage team

A Tibetan courtyard on the north gate street — wood, stone, and a few steps to Moonlight Square.

On the north gate street of Dukezong, inside a Tibetan courtyard, there is a vegan guesthouse whose name comes from “Xiangqu Senba”.

The basics

On Beimen Street, Dukezong old town, Shangri-La, Diqing, Yunnan. The old town is a short walk away; the building is Tibetan in style, mostly timber and stone — the kind of house whose local character shows at a glance.

The food

Vegan meals are served here, leaning towards Tibetan home cooking. At three thousand metres and more, something light and hot matters more than anything else. Serving hours and the menu are best confirmed with the house in advance.

Rooms and setting

Tibetan-style rooms, some with their own cooking facilities, and the whole property is non-smoking. Highland nights are cold, so heating is essential — worth asking about when you book.

Service

Location is its great advantage: Moonlight Square and Guishan Park in Dukezong are within walking distance, and Songzanlin Monastery and Napa Lake are easy to reach. It works well as a base for a longer stay on the north-west Yunnan plateau.

In one sentence: as a stop on a highland vegan itinerary, this has far more warmth than a standard hotel.

Details here were compiled from public sources, and the photographs are TeaVegVoyage brand assets rather than shots of the property. Prices, opening status and booking methods change — please check the hotel’s latest information before you travel.
